University of Windsor: Preparing for your future

Preparing to apply for university is stressful, here are some tips and tricks to ensure your application to UWindsor is effective

At the University of Windsor, we pride ourselves on the personal touches that are included in our almost 200 undergraduate and graduate programs. With small classes, friendly professors and amazing support services, we know that you will be happy with your choice to become a UWindsor Lancer!

Applying to an overseas university is stressful. Here is some advice to help you apply successfully to the University of Windsor.

1. 1. Apply early! International applications can take 6-8 weeks to process, or longer for Graduate programs. Considering your country’s visa process time, we recommend applying 6 months prior to the start date of your program.
2. 2. Look at your options! The Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC) allows you to apply for up to 3 programs for the same cost as 1. For undergraduate applications, we recommend including a program option such as Economics, Liberals Arts and Professional Studies or General Science as an alternate option, just in case you’re not admitted to your first choice. There is always an opportunity to transfer after you begin, providing that your grades are adequate. For graduate applications, we recommend considering one of our pathway programs such as Certificate in Business for graduate or Computer Science for graduates as an alternative choice.
3. 3. Language scores inadequate or not available? No worries, apply anyways. UWindsor has an outstanding English Language Improvement Program which can be used as a pathway to your acceptance. Students can receive a conditional Offer of Admission based on successful completion of our ELIP 3 program.
4. 4. Accept your Offer of Admission quickly. Please pay special attention to the expiry date on your Offer Letter. Contact us as soon as possible to ensure that we receive your acceptance and that your seat is confirmed in your program
