Student Life at a Leading Polytechnic
Why international students choose The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT)
Golden autumn leaves, vibrant warm summers, and beautiful white snow, are just some of the reasons why Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is a destination of choice for international students. With a population of over one million people, Edmonton offers all the highlights of a big city while maintaining a safe, affordable and friendly environment. Edmonton is a multicultural city and is very welcoming of newcomers.
Aside from everything our great city has to offer, NAIT provides outstanding academic and social experiences to international students from over 100 countries.
From organizing workshops on Canadian classroom expectations and local culture, to arranging visits to local ski hills, to enjoying Edmonton’s festivals, our NAIT peer mentors
are eager to provide support for international students as they transition to life at NAIT and in Edmonton. This support is available from the moment students arrive at the Edmonton International Airport.
On campus, NAIT also organizes many events such as new student orientation, Canadian Thanksgiving dinner and an annual cultural showcase. NAIT’s annual alumni event connects students with industry for an opportunity to develop networking skills.
Students can also stay active through joining a NAIT sports team, participating in on campus sports tournaments and recreation and wellness classes.
At NAIT, student success matters so through a designated immigration consultant, we offer complementary workshops
on studying and working as an international student, obtaining post-graduation work permits and pathways to permanent residency.
Our Student Services Center helps students to feel supported, comfortable and happy to be on campus so they offer a comprehensive list of services students may need while attending NAIT.
Work Integrated Learning, also known as an internship, is incorporated into most NAIT programs. Students gain valuable work experience and the opportunity to connect with future employers.
