There are many great reasons to study in Canada. Whether it’s the fact our colleges and universities are consistently recognized in top international rankings, or that Canadian tuition fees are some of the lowest in English-speaking countries, Canada is an excellent place for you to continue your education. Whatever your reason for wanting to study here, you’ll want to explore all that Canada has to offer. So, while focusing on your studies is important, there’s much to see and do in our vast nation. We’ve put together some of the best!

  1. 1. Take the VIA Rail across the country
Travel 4,500km from Toronto to Vancouver as you take in some of Canada’s most beautiful sights. If you’re short on time, it’s a great way to see much of the Canadian countryside. This 4 night trip will take you across the prairies, through the majestic Rockies, all the way to Canada’s stunning west coast.
  2. 2. Walk across the Capilano suspension bridge in B.C.
Visit the Capilano suspension bridge to walk 230 feet above the Capilano river and experience British Columbia’s beautiful forest. If you’re in the Vancouver area, its only a short distance away from the downtown core.
  3. 3. Visit the Niagara Falls and the wineries of the Niagara region
Visit the famous Horseshoe Falls and then explore down the river parkway to Niagara-on-the-Lake, which is home to over 20 different wineries. Why not take a tour or hop on a bike to explore this beautiful region and taste some of Canada’s best wines?
  4. 4. Discover the Columbia Icefield in Alberta
Take a scenic drive along the Icefields Parkway to see stunning views of the Columbia Icefield and Athabasca Glacier. These are two of the Canadian Rockies’ most beautiful sights. You can even take a glacier adventure to experience the icefield and glaciers first hand.
  5. 5. Ice skate along the Rideau Canal in Ottawa
There isn’t an activity that is much more Canadian than ice skating, so why not give it a try on the world’s largest ice skating rink? As the canal freezes over in the winter, thousands come to skate on the 8km long skateway.
  6. 6. Visit the Calgary Stampede
Attend one of the world’s largest rodeos and Canada’s largest summer festival. This ‘Canadian Classic’ also features a parade, concerts, agricultural competitions and, of course, chuckwagon racing.
  7. 7. Dog sled across northern Canada
Regardless of where you are in Canada, there will be an opportunity to try dog sledding if you head north. Stand on the back of the sled, and let a pack of dogs lead you through some of Canada’s beautiful snowy scenery.
  8. 8. Explore the Bay of Fundy on Canada’s East Coast
Known as one of the 7 wonders of North America, this bay has the highest tides on Earth, some of the world’s rarest whales and stunning rock features that emerge from the shores of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

These are just a handful of the things there are to see and do in Canada. Whether you’re into exploring nature, experiencing urban nightlife or eating delicious food, Canada will have something to make your time studying here unforgettable.
