Maybe you want to study marine navigation and become the captain of a cruise liner. Well, climb inside a simulation room that allows you to navigate any size vessel in any main harbour in the world!

The simulation is so real, you will get sea legs plus you can travel to New York, Rio de Janeiro, and Hong Kong without leaving the room!

Or maybe you want to study international business and have the opportunity to work a full semester during your studies for a multinational corporation in their Toronto or Vancouver’s branch office.

Georgian College offers smaller classes and more intimate atmospheres. Students get to know their professors and have real one on one learning opportunities. Georgian College also offers students multi-media extensive libraries and labs with thousands of state of the art computers, labs with the latest technologies they will need in their field, like engines, robots, assembly lines, smart boards, and online resources. Students are able to go to the multimedia department and gain access to anything they may need for their presentations: extra computers, projectors, audio equipment and much more!

Students will find full services such as cafeterias, fast-food places, pubs, coffee shops, stores, pharmacies, health offices, book stores, computer stores, restaurants and many other services right on campus.

Georgian College organizes varsity and intramural sports and have fully equipped gyms to keep fit and have fun. The student administrative councils organize activities and excursions for students to participate after class and on the weekends.

Students have the opportunity to join clubs like the chess club, the music and arts clubs, debate, and many other interest clubs.

Students can also join all students in the organized events like orientation days, key speaker presentations, art and cultural exhibits and presentations, and excursions to nearby places of interest such as amusement parks, museums, art galleries, and Canadian landmarks.

Georgian College also offers many places for independent study, such as study rooms, break out rooms, student lounges, libraries and extra classroom space.

International students can start working on-campus as soon as they arrive, provided they have a STUDY PERMIT, in any of the on-campus establishments or for the college in which they study. During their first semester, the college will help them to obtain a work permit and once they complete the first semester students can work anywhere up to 20 hours per week while they are studying. Also all students who choose a program with an internship, co-op or work component will be able to work full-time during the work semesters required by their program. All work is paid (you can earn about $6000-$8000 in just one semester!) so students can earn some of their living expenses while they complete their diplomas, college degrees or postgrad certificates. Students can also choose to work full time during the Christmas and summer breaks.

As a College graduate of a 2 or more year program, you are allowed to stay in Canada for up to three years working in your field after you graduate and if you wish, once you finish the three working years, you can apply to become a permanent resident in Canada. Many look to Colleges as a window to immigrate to Canada.

So where do you start? If you want to go directly into a career program you will need a 6.0 in the IELTS or about 80 in TOEFL plus your secondary school transcripts translated into English. If your English is not there yet, no problem, Georgian College offers English language training in house that allows you to go directly into post-secondary programs without either exam. Start with English training, chose your career program, start working, and if you want, apply to immigrate to Canada!
