It pays to apply for scholarships at the University of Lethbridge

University of LethbridgeThe University of Lethbridge may be Canada’s top undergraduate research university, but that doesn’t mean that the cost of a degree here is out of your reach.

We believe that hard work should be rewarded so we have a number of awards, scholarships and bursaries to help alleviate the cost of your undergraduate degree. Many awards are given out based on grades, but other criteria such as leadership and community involvement are also considered. Last year, the University gave out more than $3.5 million to students!

Although you may be automatically considered for some entrance scholarships like our Board of Governors’ and Relocation Awards or Merit Award, you will find that many require a separate application. As with most things in life, the more effort you put into it, the more you will get out of it.

If you are a high school student, or if you have not attended another post-secondary before starting at the U of L, you are eligible for our High School and Leadership Awards. These awards pay up to $5,000 per student; the application deadline is March 15, 2013 so you need to act fast.

The first scholarship application is often the most challenging; once you determine what to write, you can use it as a guide for other applications. The more awards you apply for, the greater your chances are of receiving money. It may take a little effort, but it literally pays to apply!
