University of GuelphFor many students, attending university can mean taking on a hefty amount of student debt. But with a little bit of investigating, students are likely to find a multitude of scholarships and bursaries available for the taking. In 2011-12, the University of Guelph awarded merit- and needs-based awards totaling $15.3 million to 6,800 undergraduate students!

Students who are admitted to the University of Guelph are automatically considered for entrance scholarships which range from $2,500 to $3,000, payable in their first year of study. Eligibility for these scholarships are 100% dependent on your admission average, and in most cases, we’ll let you know if you qualify for the scholarship when we send you your letter of offer – you don’t even need to apply!

U of G offers several scholarships to our best and brightest students, each worth $32,000 and payable over four years. Applications for some of these, including the President’s Scholarships and Chancellors’ Scholarships, are due in January each year, while some, such as the Board of Governors’ Scholarships, do not require an application.

The U of G also offers a convenient undergraduate award search option on our website, where students can search for entrance and in-course scholarships and bursaries based on their program of study. We encourage students to apply for as many awards as they feel they are eligible for, as there are many scholarships and bursaries which go unclaimed each year!
