Whether you are a freshman or a seasoned student, a new academic year always opens new horizons not only in your knowledge, but also in opportunities to facilitate your studying process and discover new talents in yourself.

For freshman students it might seem a bit overwhelming to keep all the new things in their heads, but it’s especially important to make sure that you are ready for the classes and have all required books. Otherwise you might fall behind with your homework and the course basics. At Fairleigh Dickinson University-Vancouver, Student Government Association (SGA) organizes book fairs where students can buy or rent books which is often much more cost-efficient. Students can also purchase hard copies or e-books in the online store.

For a smoother transition into university life, it’s always a great idea to participate in after-classes activities: trips, workshops and clubs. In FDU-Vancouver, there is a variety of workshops which help student in preparing their final papers, getting ready to exams or career challenges. There is an opportunity to participate in famous Toast Masters Club which expands your speech techniques. In their free time students can enjoy group trips around the most scenic places of the area –Whistler, Stanley Park, Granville Island.

Whether you want to learn French, play soccer or cricket, help the community through the Rotaract or just enjoy the local cuisine with fellow foodies, there is a club for you at FDU-Vancouver. And what is more exciting is that if you do not find anything for yourself, you can organize your own club!

And of course, do not miss a chance to become an orientation leader for new students. It’s an amazing chance to get to know new people and gain new leadership skills!

A new semester is always a new beginning, and you should be ready to discover new you!
