The Right School Isn't Just About Academics

Finding the school that ticks all the boxes of your needs is not the easiest thing to do with so many factors to consider. Things like: what majors are offered? Are there scholarships? Does the institution offer research opportunities for undergraduate students? But finding the right school is not just about the academics, you should also be considering things like:

  • Do you want to live in a small town/city or a large city?
  • What part of Canada? Do I want to live on an island or inland?
  • What kind of sports either competitive or fun can you do?
  • What is the employment rate of the institution?
  • With the major I want to study, does the location have that industry?
  • Does the institution have student residence on-campus or nearby?

At SAIT we are fortunate to be located in the sunniest major city in Canada as well as being located in the centre of the city with brand new student residence right on campus so you do not have to go far to get to class. With a variety of programs designed for the job market of the province, students are able to continually find employment after graduation (last year’s graduates was 94%).

Having fun is also important aspect of the right school. Besides fitness centre, Olympic size swimming pool, we have competitive sports in Men’s and Women’s Basketball, volleyball, soccer, ice hockey and cross-country running but also student intramurals in basketball, floor hockey, ice hockey, bowling, dodgeball, volleyball and indoor soccer.
