Searching for the perfect university or college experience can be a little intimidating but your friendly and knowledgeable Recruitment and Admissions Officers at Cape Breton University are here to help!

Whether you’re in your last year of high school or just getting started, exploring your possibilities should be one of the most exciting times of your life. Here are a few key things to keep in mind when you’re getting ready to work on your application.

Application due dates: Some schools, like Cape Breton University, have what we call a rolling admissions process which means that we accept applications all year round for classes starting in September, January and May. Keep in mind program specific application deadlines like CBU’s Bachelor of Science Nursing program - the deadline for application is February 28th!

Admission requirements: Admission to different programs requires different classes and averages. You don’t want to find out that you cannot be admitted into a program because you didn’t take the necessary courses in high school! Keep this in mind when choosing what to apply for and visit http://www.cbu.ca/admissions/canadian-applicants for Canadian applicant requirements.

Transcripts: Before a university can decide your admission, you must have your official transcript sent to the selected university. Your Guidance Councillor will be able to give you a transcript in an envelope to send on your own (DO NOT OPEN IT!) or they can send them directly to the university from their office. Once we have your transcripts, it can be 2 weeks before you get a response.

Now that you’ve gotten applications out of the way, sit back, relax and wait for all those offers to come rolling in.
