A Key Piece of Your Application

Save

It’s good to start working on your college application early so that you have time to reflect, to show us what you are most proud of, what is most important to you, and what you've learned from your experiences.

UBC wants to get to know you. That's where the Personal Profile section of the application comes in. This section helps us identify students who will flourish at UBC, not just because of their grades but also because of the experiences and ambition that they bring with them. The Personal Profile section is also used for merit award evaluation. This is where you tell us why you would be a great fit for UBC.

The Personal Profile asks you four to seven questions about a significant challenge you have overcome, significant achievements in your life, and what you have learned from these experiences. The questions are based on the program to which you have applied, so starting your application will allow you access to your specific questions.

When we evaluate your application, two different UBC readers will assess your Personal Profile. We use your academic average and Personal Profile assessments to make an admissions decision. Watch the video above or read more about the Personal Profile.

Not all applicants are required to submit a Personal Profile, and others will have separate supplemental applications, portfolios, and auditions. To find out if your program requires a Personal Profile, start the online application and follow the instructions. So if you have not started working on your application, we encourage you to start as soon as possible to make sure you have everything you need to submit your application on time.
