We’ve all heard the challenges that take place after graduation of trying to land that dream job to launch your career.

The transition from school to the workplace can be overwhelming, but Waterloo offers many resources to help students along the pathway to their future career.

Firstly, the most important step is to be prepared. Our Centre for Career Action will guide you along the way to develop your professional self. Career advisors can help you become an expert in job searching, résumé writing and preparing for job interviews.

In addition, Waterloo holds key annual events including Canada’s largest job fair for university and college students! These events can help you become career-ready and are a great way to start networking in your field.

To help you explore career areas, you can enroll in our co-op program. With 4,500 employers and 4 to 6 co-op work terms as part of your Waterloo degree, you can apply to jobs that suit your personal interests and goals.

With co-op, you connect your classroom learning to the real world. You’ll take your learning beyond the classroom and getting that hands-on work experience, which is just as important as your degree in order to land your dream job.

After graduation, you will be able enter your future career confidently with the 2 years of paid work experience you’ve gained through co-op.
