Getting the Financial Help You Need from Algoma U

When considering a university, students should be aware of the financial aid offered to students at a university. At Algoma University, we have a lucrative Scholarships and Bursaries Program, which provides students enrolled in various disciplines, as well as student-athletes, with financial support. And our scholarships and bursaries are not just for top students and varsity athletes; ours are given to those who demonstrate academic and athletic success, but also those who demonstrate an unmet financial need.

Students who have achieved academic excellence and maintain an 80.0 percent or above average are guaranteed an entrance scholarship valued at $8,000, $10,000 or even $12,000 over the duration of four years! Generous scholarships like the ones offered at Algoma U help cover the cost of tuition, residence, food, and books, and make the stress of budgeting not as difficult.

Unlike our entrance scholarships, other scholarships and bursaries must be applied for. There are individual application forms available on our website. Students who have alumni as parents or whose parents are municipal city workers at Sault Ste. Marie, as well as those who are Anishinaabe (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis), and even those who are considered community leaders, may qualify for additional scholarship funding. We also have international scholarships for those coming to study at Algoma U from outside of Canada. For those interested in our international scholarships, please click here.

There are also a large variety of bursaries available to those who have difficulty paying tuition, or may not have as much financial assistance as others.

Once you’ve accepted your offer of admission to Algoma U, you will then begin the process of applying for a wide variety of scholarships and bursaries. If you need help along the way, email ivana.bruni@algomau.ca.
