International Student Experience: The University of Waterloo’s International Student Experience (ISE) prepares international students such as yourself, for a successful trip to Canada and ensures that your time at Waterloo is as successful as possible. The Guidebook for New International Students, provides an in depth look at life in Canada and studying at Waterloo. The guidebook will take you through the process of travelling to Canada, settling in at Waterloo, and preparing for an amazing educational experience.

Language Assistance: Do you want to improve your English writing and conversation skills? If your English language test scores are a little low, but you are otherwise admissible to Waterloo, you may be eligible for our Bridge to Academic Success in English (BASE) program. In BASE, you practice speaking and writing English while you begin earning your degree. Once you are studying full time, Waterloo International provides programs and resources to international students, to support and instruct them in becoming more confident with the English language.

Exchange and Study Abroad Orientation: Orientation week is a fantastic opportunity for new students to experience an introduction to the academic, social, and community aspects of life at The University of Waterloo. Additional programming designed with international students in mind in mind is available through the Exchange and Study Abroad Students Orientation.

Student Success Office: For support throughout your time at Waterloo, the Student Success Office offers international advising drop-ins, workshops, and study sessions. International student advisors are equipped to answer questions regarding immigration and temporary residence permits, medical coverage, financial resources, employment resources, and the transition to Canada.

At Waterloo, international students are an important part of our campus community. We are dedicated to creating a supportive and stimulating environment for them to grow and develop their own ideas.
