Description | Special events, conventions, weddings and conference management is one of the fastest growing sectors of the tourism industry and is predicted to show steady growth in the next decade. The East Kootenay region is showing tremendous growth in the field with the explosion of major resort developments in Cranbrook, Kimberley, Panorama, Fernie, and Golden.
The Event managment certificate program helps provide students with skills in the planning, marketing implementation, and evaluation of special events in the sports, recreation, business, and entertainment industries. Course work focuses on the theoretical foundation of the events and conference business, as well as the practical application of running an event.
