DescriptionWhether you study here for one year, two years, or for an entire degree, King's is a great place to prepare for future professional studies. Begin your studies in a faith-based environment before continuing your education elsewhere.

Social Work helps individuals, families, groups, and communities to enhance their individual and collective well-being. It aims to help people develop their skills and ability to use their own resources, and those of the community, to resolve problems. Social Work focuses on individual and personal problems but also broader social issues such as poverty, unemployment, and domestic violence. If you're interested in Social Work as a career, you should consider taking SOWK 200 Introduction to Social Work at King's to gain a better sense of what the field is (and isn't!) about. The course credit transfers as an equivalent to other Introductory Social Work courses (e.g., such as SOWK 201 at the University of Calgary, or SOWK 240 at Grant MacEwan).
