Program Summary

Carleton’s Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) is a four-year Honours degree that places strong emphasis on preparing future social workers for dynamic and social justice-focused professional engagement with individuals, communities, organizations and macro-level systems.

The BSW program combines a liberal arts education with professional social work education to support understanding of the interconnectedness of people and environments and how this impacts the well-being of individuals, families and communities. In your first year, you will take a range of courses outside of social work alongside focused social work courses that introduce the broad scope of this robust profession and the related context of state programs and policies.
The BSW (Honours) Program is offered in-person only, with limited online course availability.
