On-campus Housing

Notes
Student Services offers on-campus housing to approximately 1170 students. Application packages for the fall/winter term are available each year on the first Monday in March. To receive an application package, please forward requests to Housing Services after January 1. Apprentices should submit completed applications a maximum of three months prior to the apprenticeship start date. For more information, please contact Housing Services at (403) 284-8013 or fill out registration online on the website.

Off-campus Housing
Homestay: 80 bedsLowest: $700.00Highest: $800.00

Notes
Information on off-campus housing is available through SAIT's Student's Association. SAIT offers a homestay program for international students who would like to live with a Canadian family. The homestay program offers safe and cost effective accommodation for approximately $700.00 per month. Incoming Students
SAIT boasts some of the finest student facilities in any post-secondary institute. Our recently completed expansion has created a campus with character, beauty, and cutting edge facilities. SAIT’s recreational amenities are top notch with a wide array of athletic venues from a gymnasium to racquet sport courts, a 35 metre swimming pool, a hockey arena, weight rooms, and a new soccer field. SAIT has two technologically advanced residences for students, which provide housing for approximately 1,170students. All SAIT engineering departments offer research and experimental testing facilities equipped with current scientific equipment. Distinguished laboratory facilities include a fluid mechanics lab, an automated systems engineering technology lab, and computer aided design lab. SAIT students benefit from the Institute’s partnership agreements with business and industry. The cooperation with many leading companies has helped SAIT establish ten world class centres of technology and development. These centres are visible symbols of our reputation as an industry driven institute of advanced technology, and ensure our graduates gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the workplace. All students have Internet and e-mail access. Other facilities include state of the art computer labs, technology labs, seminar rooms, a Corporate Training Centre, and a Learning Skills Centre.

Career Planning
Workshops on career planning are scheduled regularly and cover topics such as employment trends, research methods, and steps to career decision making. The cost of the two hour workshop is $15.00.

SAIT hosts and coordinates a Job Fair every year, which consists of over 100 companies that come to SAIT to recruit our students and graduates.

Intercollegiate athletics, intramurals, sports clubs, non-credit courses in recreation, physical education courses, and fitness tests are available.

Activities
The International Centre offers opportunities to meet fellow students through day excursions, multicultural clubs, and receptions. Students visit local cultural sites including Banff in the Canadian Rockies and West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton.

The Campus Centre offers comprehensive facilities for athletics and physical recreation, it houses a theatre, social lounges, social games, music, and student executive offices. Crafts, games, music, and meeting rooms are located throughout SAIT.

Clubs
SAIT's clubs include a student government, departmental clubs, and special interest groups.

Information Technology
A full service library including a large computer lab is available to students.

Cultural
There are many social and cultural student organizations meeting on campus including a Multicultural and International Students' Centre.

International Involvement
SAIT has been involved in the delivery of education and training in the international marketplace since 1984. A growing area of academic service is in the international market. SAIT is delivering training in 19 countries and has campuses in three. These include two campuses in Kazakhstan and one each in Abu Dhabi and China. Recently, SAIT has completed programs in culinary science in Japan, petroleum and instrumentation for Libyan clients, and chemical operations for the UAE.

Campus Tours
As part of an international student's orientation, students receive an introduction to Canadian culture as well as necessary information to assist students in being successful at SAIT.

Other
International students have access to all student services at SAIT as well as a number of additional services offered by the centre: academic advising, admissions, airport greeting, bookstore and computer store, campus health services, chaplains, cultural counselling, health care advising, housing (homestay and on-campus residence), orientation, international student room, Internet access and e-mail address, job search assistance, Learning Skills Centre, personal counselling and referral, pre-departure assistance, recreational facilities, restaurants, study and work permit issues, volunteer opportunities, and more!
