Sociology at Trent seeks to provide students with a toolkit of concepts, theories, research skills and factual information to enable them to think critically about the changing social conditions they are living through, and about the efforts of people to direct that change. Building on a common core of required courses in theory and methods, the Sociology program at Trent offers two main concentrations: 1) social structures and social policies, in areas such as social inequality, families, health and criminal justice and 2) social interaction and culture, in areas such as religion, media studies, ethnic and sexual identities.
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
