Environmental Science
Description:
Environmental earth science is the study of interactions between humans and earth's natural environment. You will study the influence of human activities on the local and global environment as well as how human actions are shaped and controlled by the geologic and geomorphic processes occurring around us. Environmental earth science is of global importance today and in the future, as we face more and more challenging environmental issues.
As an environmental earth scientist you would typically be employed by consulting companies, large resource and industrial firms, and government organizations. The BSc Honors and Specialization degrees also provide excellent preparation for postgraduate studies in a wide variety of programs. U of A grads may decide to go on to Master's and PhD programs in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, terrain analysis, geomorphology, biogeography, climatology, hydrogeology, hydrology, resource management, global change, or other specialties.
