In general, you usually need a high school diploma. You usually also need specialized or on-the-job training. To be an animal care worker, you may need animal health or veterinary assistant college courses. Many recent entrants have a trade / vocational certificate or community college diploma, and almost 1 in 10 has an undergraduate university degree.
