Georgian Launches 17 New Programs with High-Tech labs and Outdoor Learning

Georgian College is now offering 17 new programs that explore the business and science of farming operations.

Future Georgian College students can explore the business and science of farming operations, from farm to table, in one of the 17 new programs the college recently launched.

The Business — Agriculture program combines outdoor learning with time in modern labs and classrooms, as well as business training and a co-operative work placement to get students hands-on experience to prepare for their careers.

The Medical Laboratory Technician program also has a mix of in-class and outside work, combining scientific analysis in high-tech labs with application in two clinical placements.

Both new programs start in fall 2024. All new programs are now accepting applications.

The new programs include a mix of diplomas, certificates, degrees, and graduate certificates:

Diplomas:

• Business — Agriculture: Explore the business and science behind farming operations, from farm to table. Build specialized agricultural skills to foster efficiency, sustainability, and profitability.
• Medical Laboratory Technology: Combine scientific analysis with clinical application. Develop microbiology, hematology, and histology skills with two clinical placements and high-tech labs.
• Game — Design and Simulation: Explore the latest video game design and simulation tools and techniques. Turn game concepts into 2D and 3D experiences for PC, console, mobile, and more.
• Golf Industry Management: Get hands-on experience in both golf operations and business fundamentals with paid co-op and field trips. Build your network and more.
• Jewellery Design, Bench Skills and Business: Get hands-on experience in the jewellery industry, from fabrication to sales. Access to industry experts, seasoned faculty, and state-of-the-art studios and technologies.
• Visual and Digital Media Arts: Get hands-on experience with the latest digital tools — such as virtual reality — and a range of traditional media.

Certificates:

• College Foundations: Explore a variety of courses. Discover your strengths and find your passion! Develop skills for success. Be ready for employment or further your studies.
• Construction Techniques: Experience hands-on training in seven high-demand skilled trades. Learn in state-of-the-art facilities. Pave your way to a career or apprenticeship in one year.
• Maajii-Anishnaabemdaa (Start Speaking the Language): Develop Anishnaabemowin speaking, reading and listening skills. Connect to Anishnaabe ways of being, traditional values and history. Engage with peers in our Indigenous virtual reality worlds.
• Medical Laboratory Assistant: Explore laboratory and analysis techniques in state-of-the-art labs. Play a vital role in the detection of disease and illness. Start your career in one year.

Degrees:
