Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Decolonization on Campus

How students and staff are making the King's campus a safe and inclusive space for everyone.

At King's UC, we are a student-centered campus. We want to uplift and support our students every way we can throughout their academic journey. The Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Decolonization (EDID) is responsible for providing leadership for all organizational activities intended to further integrate and advance our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, as well as truth, reconciliation, and Indigenous engagement.

What does all this mean? It means that EDID works with people (faculty, staff, and students) within the King's community and outside, within the larger London community, to ensure that King's campus is:

• diverse – our students see themselves represented in one another, as well as by the leadership, faculty, and staff
• inclusive – every student, faculty member, staff member, and member of the leadership team has the opportunity to have their voices heard
• equitable – we do things because it's the right thing to do, while providing high-quality education and service for our students
• transparent - in initiatives to decolonize the curriculum and the way we do things

Although leadership is fronted by our EDID office, this is a campus-wide objective and mission. It requires support from every member of our community.

Celebrating differences

Here at King's we celebrate differences — in religion, race, ethnicity, gender and everything else! We want to make sure our students know that they are truly valued, respected, and wanted here at King's. We have many different events on campus for celebrations and observances of our campus body which you can see more about on our website.

We also have tons of student-led groups you can get involved with on campus, whether it be for 2SLGBTQIA+, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour), Multi-faith, Accessibility, Wellness and Equity, or more — we have space for you here and you are welcomed with open arms.

A safe space to talk faith

We also want to make sure our students have the opportunity to discuss religion and faith in a safe and welcoming environment. Campus Ministry works hard to build and nurture a community where all people are welcomed, included, and respected.

People of all faith traditions will find here a safe place where they can learn from each other through dialogue. Rooted in the best of our Catholic heritage, Campus Ministry is committed to the care of the whole person: mind, body, and spirit! This is a place where every person can flourish. Financial support for students

As for financial assistance, King's has a plethora of opportunities to make money on campus, whether it be through scholarships/bursaries or employment, we have opportunities available for students. You can find a full list of funding opportunities online!

Some of our scholarships are for first generation university students, our Joy and Hope Entrance Award for Indigenous students, King's Entrance Award for Students New to Canada, KPMG BIPOC Student Award, and many others!
