How to Start a Successful Business Career in Canada
Learn about some of the helpful tools at Concordia's John Molson School of Business.
Have you imagined what life looks like after university? Whether you want to build a brand, trade stocks or start a non-profit, launching your business career in Canada takes planning.
At the John Molson School of Business, empowering students towards a successful career path is top priority, and it shows: 87% of JMSB undergraduates are employed within three months of graduating! This is how Concordia is helping its students kickstart their business careers:
C-RISE
As an international student at JMSB, your connections are always growing. Short for the Career Roadmap for International Student Excellence, C-RISE helps international students build a network and find a job in Quebec. It can be challenging to start over in a new country, but with C-RISE's career seminars, practice interviews, and networking events with employers, international students will get access to the resources they need to achieve their career goals.
Van Berkom Investment Management Program
Want to handle millions of dollars as an undergraduate student? Each year, a small group of JMSB students are chosen to manage a small equity portfolio worth over $2 million. The Van Berkom Investment Management Program gives students real-world trading experience and a huge leap towards a career in global capital markets — imagine how that looks on a resumé!
Kenneth Woods Portfolio Management Program
In a similar fashion, the Kenneth Woods Portfolio Management Program gives hands-on experience to a small group of selected students to work with a real-life portfolio worth over $5 million. Become a research associate or fund manager and participate in exclusive finance internships and networking events as you work towards a career in trading.
Career Management Services
An exclusive resource just for JMSB students, Career Management Services is a one-stop-shop for everything job-related, including career advice, resumé and cover letter writing, networking events, interview prep, and job search tools. They hold over 200 career events on campus every year, giving students the opportunity to link and build new connections.
Experiential learning
Every student at Concordia is guaranteed at least one experiential learning opportunity. Projects vary — do a paid internship in your field through a co-op placement, compete in a case competition, organize a fashion show, or whatever gets you excited. The best way to learn is by doing it yourself!
