With our global community rapidly expanding, and with a growing interest-in and dependence-upon world trade, the industry of importing and exporting goods couldn’t be more important to the world’s economy. Individuals trained in Import/Export will be familiar with the details of the regulations and laws that govern world trade, as well as be privy to the current dialogues and rhetoric of the international market.



This program teaches students valuable skills recommended by the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT), which will provide all the tools necessary to eventually become a Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) Areas of study include research in international business, legal aspects of international trade, law and business ethics, spreadsheets and databases and financial mathematics. Note: this program is available in English only, and includes an eight week-long internship.

Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:*These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    To be eligible for admission to the International Commerce and Import/Export program, candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
    Persons holding a Secondary School Diploma or its recognized equivalent.
    Persons who are at least 16 years of age on September 30 of the school year in which their training is to begin and have earned the Secondary IV credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister, or have been granted recognition of equivalent learning.
    Persons who are at least 18 years of age upon entry into the program and have the following functional prerequisites: the successful completion of the general development test, or recognition of equivalent learning.
    Persons having earned Secondary III credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister and who will continue their general education courses concurrently with their vocational training in order to obtain the credits they are missing among the following: Secondary IV language of instruction, second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister.
