Description: | Enter the diverse and everchanging world of public safety and security. Meet and exceed new provincial standards for security personnel in Ontario. Develop an enhanced level of skill in the new areas of sophisticated and enhanced security. In this program, you will learn from world-renowned subject experts on issues, such as suspect profiling, forensic identification, event security, media relations, youth Ggmbling, and guns and gangs. There is also specialized training and certifications in Standard First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Automatic External Defibrillator, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Possession and Acquisition Firearms License, Use of Force, Security Supervisor, Terrorism and Hazardous Materials Awareness, and Basic Emergency Management. Obtain Certification in: Use of Force, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, CPR, First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator, PAL (Possession and Acquisition License), and Security Supervisor Certification.
Career opportunities are available in the areas of terrorism counteraction; federal, provincial, or local government security; crisis management; security consulting; information systems security; transportation security; healthcare security; utility and nuclear systems security; executive protection; and special event security. There are 40 hours of security industry placement per semester. |
