Field of Study: | Intercultural/Multicultural and Diversity Studies

Description: | The Intercultural Studies program is designed to provide students with basic academic and practical preparation for inter-cultural service and for further specialized training in Intercultural Studies. Students have the option to combine this major with a TESOL certificate and participate in the cross-cultural practicum options if they so desire. International Studies is an interdisciplinary field, and so students can expect to be in classes from many different departments.
The program will enable each graduate to become familiar with the broad theoretical and theological framework of modern intercultural relationships. Students will learn about the key political and cultural issues facing the world today, and grapple with intercultural trends like globalism, revolution, secularism, and urbanization. Analytical skills that can help in developing viable solutions to intercultural issues and problems are learned through an integration and application of insights and methods of both theology and the social sciences. Students will also gain the ability to organize and implement an intercultural program at the level of the local church. |
