Description:Graduate science education within the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta gives students an opportunity to train with the world’s leading experts in basic, translational, clinical and patient care-related cardiovascular research. Our multidisciplinary research group environment allows students to gain important experience in the latest techniques and model systems. Exposure to a collaborative model, where many different research approaches are used to solve important problems of basic and disease-driven science, enhances the scope and value of the student experience. Training is available leading toward MSc, PhD degrees, or postdoctoral fellowships.

Our trainees leave with the skills and abilities to succeed in academic, research, technical and professional positions in academic and non-academic settings.

Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:*These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    MSc degree, or relevant master’s degree, recognized by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, or transfer from MSc program, or, in exceptional cases, BSc degree or equivalent.
    A minimum admission grade point average of 3.30 (on the University of Calgary four-point system; equivalent to a "B+") based on the last two years of the undergraduate degree consisting of a minimum of 60 units (10 full-course equivalents) and any master’s course work if applicable.
    Test Scores:
    • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 7.5] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 105] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 600] or Michigan English Language Assessment Battery [min. 86]
