Description: | You're ready to be a first responder. So prepare for a hot job in fire service or pre-hospital care by studying both emergency medical response and firefighting in this only full-time diploma course in Canada. Start with core training in both emergency medical and firefighting, then specialize in one of the two. In the medical concentration - our curriculum matches the National Occupational Competency Profile. That's supplemented with strong hands-on experience with EMT theory (self-study and in-class) and labs, clinical rotation, ambulance practicum and hospital practicum. All are meant to give you practice in critical incident stress management and clinical skills. In the fire concentration - after learning and practicing on our live training field, you'll go on a fire station practicum. This supports your practical knowledge and professional qualifications as a fire department vehicle driver, fire inspector, public fire and life safety educator, and fire service instructor.
