The thesis-based Master of Science in Computer Science program provides students with skills and knowledge necessary to pursue doctoral studies or a professional career in the rapidly changing computing and technology fields. This is done through course work in specialized areas of computing technology, applications, and theory, as well as participation in research-oriented seminars, and culminating in an original research thesis. Students completing the MSc program are prepared to take on leadership roles in industry, or continue to deepen their expertise through the pursuit of a PhD in Computer Science.
Students pursuing the thesis-based Master of Science in Computer Science program may optionally elect to seek employment through Co-operative education.These students may undertake a four-month or eight-month work placement and are anticipated to gain practical knowledge of the state-of-the-art technologies of software development by working in software companies in Canada and abroad. Some examples of companies hiring our MSc Co-op students include IBM, Blackberry, among other top high-tech companies.
