Description: | The Architectural Technology (Fast Track) program is primarily aimed at internationally trained professionals seeking knowledge of North American construction practice and language. If you have received a degree in architecture (either in Canada or abroad) you will gain direct admission into the third semester of the three-year Architectural Technology program and receive your diploma in four academic semesters. During your time in this School of Engineering Technology and Applied Science undertaking, you will cover topics such as: Building materials; Construction methods; Structural design; Mechanical and electrical services; Building codes; Contracts; Specifications. The business environment for providing design and construction services. Hands-on training will be provided in cutting edge computer labs in which you will prepare designs, construction drawings, specifications, and reports needed to communicate with clients, builders, and approval authorities. You will complete drawings for commercial, institutional, complex, and multi-use buildings. To round out your Architectural Technology (Fast Track) training, you will also become exposed to energy efficient design, sustainable design and construction strategies, and protecting the environment. |
