Our courses will give you a thorough understanding of the knowledge, values and skills needed for generalist social work practice: -principles and theories for direct intervention with individuals, families and groups; social work practice as shaped by oppressive, systemic relations -how to work effectively within and across different communities including Indigenous populations, persons with disabilities, immigrants, refugees, newcomers, racialized communities and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities -history and theories of the state; the nature of the labour market, changing family structures, ageing, the voluntary sector and research methodologies -administration and management of social services and the state, working in community and human service organizations, refining analytical and interpersonal skills |
