Description:Concordia's new PhD program in Industrial Engineering is one of only two such programs currently offered in Quebec. It is a thesis-based degree that looks at various areas of research, including transportation systems, supply chain management, stochastic optimization, quality control, revenue management and lean systems design.

The program combines theoretical and research frameworks, through which you will gain the knowledge and research experience necessary for the design and operation of innovative systems. You will have access to state-of-the-art laboratories and established research centres in a department that promotes interdisciplinary research. Completion of a doctoral thesis in a field of your choice is required. With an international reputation and world-class programs, our department is at the forefront of research and graduate training in Canada.

Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:*These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    Admission on a full-time basis:
  • Master’s degree or equivalent with high standing in engineering or computer science, or in a cognate discipline.
  • Holders of a bachelor’s degree will, in general, be considered for admission to a master’s program only. After completion of a minimum of one term of full-time study in the Master's degree, they may, upon application, be recommended by the Department and approved by the GCS Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies for admission to a PhD program.




    Admission on a part-time basis:
  • Master’s degree with high standing in engineering, computer science or a cognate discipline.
    Proficiency in English. Applicants whose primary language is not English must demonstrate that their knowledge of English is sufficient to pursue graduate studies in their chosen field. Please refer to the English language proficiency page for further information on requirements and exemptions.
