Description:Centennial College's Fitness and Health Promotion program is comprised of hands-on practical learning in laboratory and placement settings and a comprehensive academic grounding that will prepare you for a career assisting individuals and groups to reach their highest potential for overall well-being. You'll have the opportunity to gain the skills necessary to, after graduation, become a certified personal trainer according to the CSEP-CPT and a group exercise leader according to the Ontario Fitness Council requirements. You'll also learn course material related to the canfitpro Personal Training Specialist certification and have an opportunity to receive this certificate in the program. Lastly, you will have access to a unique mental health certification called the Wellness Recovery Action Plan offered by Health Out Loud, a Toronto-based charity.

Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:*These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
  •  Grade12 English 
  •   Physics  or   Chemistry  or   Biology 
Applicants are required to have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status (19 years or older); English Grade 12 C or U, or equivalent (minimum grade required) or take the Centennial College English Skills Assessment for Admission; and one Science Grade (Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Exercise Science) 11 or 12, C or U (minimum grade requirement) or take a Centennial College Science Skills Assessment for Admission.
Additional Admission Requirements:
    After admission but prior to each program field placement, students require the following:
  • Obtain a clear police check with vulnerable sector screening. Vulnerable Sector Screenings must be issued within six months of each placement start date. Any previous criminal record must be pardoned.
  • Successful completion and annual renewal of a recognized course in CPR (level-C).
  • Successful completion of recognized course in standard first aid.
