Description | Launch your future in the livestock industry with Lakeland’s animal science livestock science major. You’ll start on the Student-Managed Farm (SMF) – powered by New Holland on day one. You’ll gain a broad view of different sectors from both the production and business side. Our courses are species specific. You’ll choose between beef and dairy production for your in-depth study, but you’ll also learn about bison, horses and sheep. While you’ll have time in the classroom, you’ll have ample time with hands-on learning on the college farm. This starts with livestock handling and goes to making decisions and solving problems as part of a SMF team. You’ll follow the production cycle – breeding, feeding and selling. If you chose the practicum route, you’ll also put your learning into action with a project and capstone presentation. | | |
