By choosing to study English you will learn to work with words in critical and creative ways, an ability that is essential to many careers. Acadia’s English program offers more than 40 full- or half-year courses taught by specialists in literary and media studies. Our first-year classes will introduce you to a variety of novels, plays, poems, and essays while providing you with strategies for developing a clear and persuasive writing style. As an upper-year student you will pursue your interests and broaden your experience of literature in courses covering a range of periods, authors, genres, cultures, and critical approaches.
