Description | This dynamic profession combines hands on technical knowledge of buildings and construction techniques with the art of architectural design. Students profit from small classes, peer tutoring, state-of-the-art software and individual teacher attention. Our teachers include practicing architects and engineers who bring that expertise to the classroom. Upon completion of the program graduates understand the science and materials of construction and know-how to combine them with the techniques of design and architecture.
As part of their studies, students take field trips to architecturally interesting locations in and around Montreal such as innovative buildings, green buildings, construction sites, architectural land marks, and historical Old Montreal. Past trips outside the country have included trips to New York City, New Orleans, New Mexico and Chicago. Prominent guest speakers keep the program connected to contemporary trends in building design and techniques. All students in this program participate in a two-week internship where they work in the offices of architects, contractors, construction firms or other related companies to get a realistic view of the profession. These internships often lead directly to job offers. | | |
