Description | The Micropublishing and Hypermedia Program is a mixed-discipline program of print and web design and information development, emphasizing the importance of communication skills. This program explores design from many perspectives, helping the student develop an engaging, applicable and pertinent design practice. To accomplish this goal, the program provides courses that progressively challenge the student over the three years, concluding with a vernissage and a final portfolio (web and print). Beginning with introductory courses in web design, graphic design and software knowledge, the program transforms into studies in typography, layout, web design and web development as well as informational design. Students will learn how to lay out and design informational material such as brochures, newsletters, reports, manuals and advertising and promotional documents.
Students will work with industry standards such as Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Dreamweaver as well as Microsoft Office. Learning by doing is the essence of this program and culminates in a four-week internship during the final semester. Graduates celebrate their final year with a vernissage where they can share their work in print design, web development and business communications.
