DescriptionFeel the pull of the tide, or crave a life on the high seas? If so, this is the program for you. Our Nautical Science diploma program prepares you to qualify for Transport Canada's Watchkeeping Mate certificate of competency allowing you to sail anywhere in the world as Third Officer or Second Officer on a wide variety of ship types. You also get a head start on higher level certificates of competency because of credits you receive towards Transport Canada examinations and sea service exemptions. As a cadet, you'll train on a wide range of ships, from large passenger cruise ships to cargo vessels. In the classroom, you are exposed to science, technology and tradition as you learn to manage and safely navigate a vessel while caring for the cargo you re carrying and protecting the marine environment in which you operate. Currently, there is a high demand for ships’ officers around the globe. You can travel worldwide while living at home.

This four-year program, consists of six academic terms, three technical sessions and two sea phase work terms. This cadet program alternates semesters on-campus with semesters at sea.
