Description | Our four-year History program features a wide range of topic areas for students, including First Nations history, colonial history, British history, Canadian history, American history, ancient and medieval history, history on film, women’s history, literary history, Mesoamerican history, and philosophical and intellectual history. New courses in community-based public history allow students to explore ideas and projects on history as it’s made available in museums, historical sites, and archives of various kinds. Students become directly engaged in the study of primary documents, historical writing, and highly interactive classroom learning experiences. In their fourth-year, students design, research, and write their own thesis in an area of chosen interest. Our graduates are employed as teachers, lawyers, librarians, civil servants, and historical researchers, with a growing number continuing their studies in graduate programs in history, museum studies, archaeology, and library and information science. | | |
