DescriptionThis six-year program is designed to prepare trainees for a career in either academic or community neurosurgery. The program accepts two new residents per year through the Canadian Resident Matching Service. The curriculum includes "core surgical" rotations in the first two years, which include neurosurgery, general surgery, ICU, and internal medicine. The 3rd, 4th, and 6th years include 24 blocks of adult neurosurgery, 4 blocks of pediatric neurosurgery, as well as rotations in neuropathology and neuroradiology. Year 5 is dedicated to research of either a basic science or clinical nature.

A large volume of clinical work is available, and graduates of this program have excellent surgical experience. Our graduates are well prepared for their Royal college Certification exam in neurosurgery and have gone on to successful academic or private practice careers in Canada or the United States.
