Prerequisites NotesTo be eligible to participate in the Canadian Resident Matching Service you must be either a medical student or graduate having obtained or obtaining a medical degree by July 1 from a Liaison Committee on Medical Education / Committee on Accreditation on Canadian Medical Schools (LCME/CACMS) accredited school, a school of osteopathic medicine or an international medical school. We encourage candidates to apply to this program if they have interest in radiation oncology as a specialty discipline, interest in a career in caring for cancer patients, strong academic record, and aptitude for medical physics and/or basic sciences would be an asset, but is not critical.

DescriptionThe University of Calgary is one of only four universities in the country with a residency program in each of the five major oncology subspecialties: 1) Radiation Oncology, 2) Medical Oncology, 3) Surgical Oncology, 4) Gynecologic Oncology, and 5) Hematologic Oncology. In addition we offer a newly accredited program in Palliative Care.

The Radiation Oncology program is a small program with exciting opportunities to share learning and exchange ideas with residents from the other oncology training programs the Palliative Care residency and with trainees in Radiation Therapy and Medical Physics.
