You may gain entry into the year two of the three-year Mechanical Engineering Technology – Design (Fast Track) offering and obtain your Technology diploma in two years (four semesters) if you are a qualified college or university graduate. This School of Engineering Technology and Applied Science program will combine courses in engineering theory and practice, focusing on the design and development of various mechanical devices and equipment. As such, you will obtain a thorough grounding in engineering sciences and skills, including advanced computer-assisted drafting and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) through the use of the latest industry relevant software. In addition, a course will introduce you to finite element analysis using ANSYS software.
You will spend about one-quarter of the Mechanical Engineering Technology – Design (Fast Track) program time on project work. These projects will simulate workplace assignments and relate classroom theory to actual design and manufacture of equipment. In fact, capstone project courses will teach you to plan, schedule, design, build and manage projects in a teamwork environment using Centennial College’s machine shop, which is outfitted with CNC machines and rapid prototyping equipment. Please note: If you are ready to launch your career, you may step into the workplace and gain real-world exposure to leading edge technologies through a one-year work term by choosing the Mechanical Engineering Technology – Design (Fast Track/PTY) offering (program #3745).
