DescriptionGeology studies the processes that shape the Earth’s surface features, interior structure and composition. At Western, multidisciplinary skills are developed in the field and the laboratory, as well as through theory and computation. This broad approach will give you the skills to meet emerging challenges in the responsible development of mineral, energy and water resources, addressing climate change, mitigating natural hazards like earthquakes, volcanoes and meteorite impacts, and understanding deep time, the evolution of life and mass extinctions.

This program is designed to meet the minimum geoscience knowledge requirements for Professional Registration as a licensed geoscientist in Canada, as set by the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO) and the Canadian Council of Professional Geoscientists (CCPG).

You can complete this program as a Bachelor or an Honours Bachelor degree. Registration in the honours degree usually begins in the second year, but admission may be gained in the third or fourth year provided you meet requirements.
