| Prerequisites Notes | For the Masters Program, while you do not have to have a Bachelors or BA Honours Degree in the discipline that you are applying to for; however, it is important that you have a strong background in both advanced sociologial or anthrpological theories and sociological or anthropological methodologies in order to be considered for admission. For Doctorate programs you must have a background in the discipline that you are applying to. Our minimum C.G.P.A requirement is 3.25, however, in order to be competitive in the program and be eligible for internal and external funding you should aim for a C.G.P.A of 3.50.

| Description | We are a joint department (Sociology & Anthropology) where students are offered a solid foundation in each discipline AND are invited to engage in innovative interdisciplinary studies. Graduates are equipped with a comprehensive foundation in social theory, substantive courses in specific areas of research interest, and rigorous training in research methodologies, a particular strength of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at SFU.
