Description | Managing the release of prescription medications is serious business. It requires a commitment to detail and a highly specialized set of technical and interpersonal skills. If you're excited by the opportunity to work on a team that provides much needed support to those most in need, the Pharmacy Technician program will give you the skills necessary to achieve professional success. You'll begin the program by developing a wealth of knowledge in pharmaceutical and self-care products; pharmacy business concepts and institutional procedures. You'll learn to safely and efficiently prepare non-sterile and sterile products, by working in Fanshawe's state-of-the-art pharmacy lab, through classroom instruction and by participating in various field placement opportunities. You'll learn how to write for the Health Sciences, while studying anatomy and pharmaceutical mathematics.
As a Pharmacy Technician, you'll work collaboratively with a pharmacist to safely and accurately process, prepare and release prescription medications. And when you graduate, a wide range of career opportunities await you, including positions in community, hospital and institutional pharmacies; compounding pharmacies; home health care divisions/companies; pharmaceutical distribution wholesalers; pharmacy application software companies; and pharmacy benefits administration.
