Description | The PhD program is offered jointly with Carleton University. The PhD program stresses the application of economic theory to the analysis of Canadian economic policy and economic development. It offers specialization for intensive study and thesis research in: Public Economics - the allocative, redistributive and stabilization impact of governments; Industrial Organization - the effects of regulation, fiscal measures, government production, marketing boards and competition policy on the structure and performance of Canadian industries; Monetary Economics - the impact of money in general and on the Canadian economy in particular; International Economics - the interrelationships between the Canadian and world economies; Economic Development - the process of economic and structural change within Canada and in the developing countries.
