Description | Discover how recreation can improve quality of life for everyone, including people with disabilities, older adults, patients in long-term care, and at-risk youth. In Waterloo's program -- one of only three in Ontario -- you'll learn how to develop formal, evidence-based programming to help people in clinical and community settings. You'll gain valuable hands-on experience through a required 105-hour practicum and required 560-hour internship and can apply what you learn in paid co-op work terms. Once you graduate, you'll be eligible to apply for registration with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario and certification with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification. You can also use your degree as a springboard for other professional health programs such as occupational therapy (OT).
Apply to Recreation and Leisure Studies and select Therapeutic Recreation as your subject of major interest. | | |
