DescriptionIndividuals and communities across our country struggle with addiction issues. The methods used to deal with these issues are often dependant on a community's social and cultural background. If you have a desire to work in addictions services with Aboriginals who live in urban or rural settings, you can receive specialized training from Keyano College. Topics covered in the program include communications and report writing, facilitation and community development, family counselling, pharmacology or drugs, and group counselling.

The Aboriginal Addictions Services Program is offered through a partnership with Keyano College at the Nechi Institute in St. Albert. Students receive advanced standing from Keyano College for completion of the Nechi Institute's CAT and ACT Series, equivalent to the first semester of the certificate. The certificate portion of the Aboriginal Addictions Services program can then be completed in six months.
