All students in the Qualifying Year in the Faculty of Engineering follow a common curriculum in their first year. At the end of the first year, students choose among the various specialized Engineering programs offered and between the traditional and cooperative education streams.

DescriptionEnvironmental engineers protect natural ecosystems, human health, and quality of life by applying engineering principles to solve environmental and public health related challenges. By combining their knowledge of the natural sciences, chemistry, biology, and microbiology, with their expertise in engineering, environmental engineers tackle many complex problems society faces. As an environmental engineer, you might be involved in performing an environmental impact assessment, or in designing or managing systems for water distribution and collection, water treatment plants, solid waste handling and processing facilities, landfills, and air treatment plants.
