| Description | The Ph.D. is a research degree requiring few courses and an extensive thesis, conducted under the supervision of a Faculty member (professor), that makes a distinct contribution to knowledge. The Ph.D. program prepares candidates for a career in teaching, research and/or development and graduates are expected to have acquired autonomy in conducting research. McGill also offers various workshops that provide general, transitional, and professional skills development opportunities, preparing candidates for various career options following the Ph.D.
